has worked with such greats as Buck Owens, Vassar Clements, David Frizzell, and
Larry Bastian, songwriter of "Rodeo" and "Unanswered Prayers" sung by Garth Brooks.
In 2000 Gwen traveled to Nashville to sing on a Grateful Dead
tribute album called "Dead Grass". There she worked with Vassar Clements,
Godfather of the Fiddle in country music, Butch Baldarsari, mandolin
player for the Nashville String Ensemble, and Jeff White, backup
singer for Vince Gill. They dubbed Gwen as "little miss one take" because of her
ability to record lead or backup vocals in one take. The album did well and received
fantastic reviews from the Grateful Dead themselves.
Gwendolyn's mixture of powerhouse punch and personality has proven again and again that she has what it takes to be a vibrant, popular and consistent entertainer.
Background
Gwendolyn Vaughn was born on April 11 and raised on a farm in the San Joaquin Valley, California USA. Singing at age 5 with her Grandmother at church and with her Father at home, was a treat for a young girl who was raised in rural countryside.
At the age of 13, Gwendolyn's Father taught her how to play guitar. This led Gwendolyn to begin singing and playing music in church and at talent shows in her hometown of Porterville, CA.
Gwendolyn left school in 1972 and has lived in both Northern and Southern California. While honing her craft along the way, she has gained valuable experience and knowledge of music and entertaining. In 1982 she relocated to the beautiful Lake Arrowhead mountain area, in Southern California, where she raised her 2 children, Justin and Megan, and happily resides in the Lake Arrowhead area of California with her husband, John. Gwendolyn has performed at numerous clubs and restaurants in the San Bernardino mountain community and Inland Empire.
In addition she has also done charity functions for Christmas in April, performed for the Rotary Club and Chamber of Commerce, Realtor of the Year installation, San Bernardino County Sheriff's Awards Dinner, Lake Arrowhead Yacht Club, Lake Arrowhead Country Club, U.C.L.A. Conference Center, just to name a few. Her professionalism and integrity are greatly admired and in high demand when it comes to having a class act entertainer for the right function.
Gwendolyn is currently
working on her own album of original material. When asked about her music, she
said, "Writing is a very personal experience. I want to give of myself
so that the listeners can really see what I am about." The CD will consist
of a wide variety of styles, complimented with Gwen's trademark vocals and her
great musicianship. This CD will be worth waiting for as there will be a variety
of songs for all musical tastes.
